The Lee Jong Suk Story: Everything You need to Know Part 1

Lee Jong Suk is one of the first K-drama actors to have his own wax statue in Madam Tussaud’s Museum in Hong Kong. He is without a doubt one of the most hard working and influential celebrities in the history of Asia.

Early Years

Lee Jong Suk was born on September 14, 1989. He first made his debut in 2005 as a runway model. He was considered the youngest male model to join the Seoul Fashion Week. He is from Yongin originally but transferred to Seoul when he was in High school.

Lee Jong Suk is the eldest of two sons and one daughter. His brother is two years younger than him, while his sister is four years younger. Growing up, Lee Jong Suk admitted to being shy. He was so shy he could not even raise his hands to do presentations in school.

Lee Jong Suk’s father was very strict towards him, he once thought that his father was displeased at him because he is the eldest. He was quiet and timid compared with his siblings. He has confessed to being afraid of his father when he goes at home.

Lee Jong Suk learned how to play the piano, do taekwondo, draw and play baduk or Korean Chess while he was still young. He likes playing the piano, while he was forced to take Taekwondo lessons.

He got in a car accident once on the way to his Taekwondo lessons and tore his cruciate ligament. He thought that because of the accident his father would let him stop going to Taekwondo lessons, but as soon as the wounds healed, his father insisted that he take Taekwondo lessons again.

Lee Jong Suk eventually studied performing arts in school, while his brother ended having to stay put to study. Because of this his brother would tell him that “I haven’t thought of anything else because I spent all my time studying.” He would have been good in sports because he is taller than me (I’m 186 centimeters tall). He didn’t do so well on his college entrance exam last year so he’s studying to take them again. He’s at an academy all the time and he comes home every once in a while so it feels like he’s on leave from the military. ( www.Asiae.co.kr)

He thought he was already old enough when he went to high school, so he did not spend too much time with his classmates. But in an interview he said that he regretted doing that. When he grew up, he had less friends on his phone book and had no one to call for a cup of coffee.

Lee Jong Suk worked as a model for the first 6 years of his career. His parents were not happy with this, because he was not seen on TV yet. Because of this frustration, there was a time when his parents told him to just enter the military instead since he did not have anything to show for. But today they are really with what he has achieved.

Lee Jong Suk has confessed once during an interview that he tried to go tanning to look more manly, because he felt his skin was too white. Even if he works out, his muscles are not noticeable because his body is really white. It took 3 years before he really landed serious roles on TV. He had to be really patient in waiting for success to arrive.
