Humans turning into zombies might seem like science fiction, however if we will analyze this on a scientific and medical standpoint, the zombie disease infecting humans and animals is not so far fetched.
This is because viruses and diseases can evolve. There are viruses like the Mad Cow disease called the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease that is contracted if a human digests infected beef. This virus can infect the brain and cause a person to experience jerky movements, terrible depression and loss of memories. It can make a person lose their ability to communicate with other humans. Rabies for one is also transmittable to humans.
Rabies has the ability to make animals zombie like, they become rabid- thankfully humans have found a way to eliminate animals that are infected. But the possibility of humans turning into zombies because of a virus is not something we should disregard. It remains a possibility and it is best to educate oneself on the best ways to stay alive longer- or survive.
And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
How To Live Longer during the Zombie Apocalypse?
Make sure to sterilize drinking water coming from the rain
We would assume that clean water would be hard to come by, which is why you will have to rely on the rain for your water supply. Avoid drinking the water immediately, instead collect the rain water and put it in a glass bottle and leave it out in the sunshine to sterilize it. The sun’s UV rays will pass right through it and kill the germs. If you are camping and happen to be outdoors, always boil your water first before drinking it, to avoid getting any unwanted virus or bacteria that can weaken your body. You will need all your strength to survive.
2. Get out of the City
If you happen to still have time, then by all means do what you can to get outside the city. While cities are convenient to live in, remember that cities will be the first one to collapse. You have better chances of surviving in the forest or in nearby farms where you can learn how to grow your food. Travel near a spot where there is fresh water- or better yet buy a house now in the countryside and fill it up with necessary supplies- so you can just drive there once the city begins to fall apart.
3. Prepare a Survival kit bag or a Military Tactical bag
For any situations whether there is a zombie apocalypse or not, you must always have what they would call as the ‘bug-out bag” that can keep you alive for at least 72 hours. Put a flashlight, water, chocolates or cookies to help keep you strong. Some easy to open cans or no need to cook food. Put some knife in and other first-aid kit supplies like alcohol, antibiotics and medicine for fever. Also make sure to bring in some soap, batteries, can opener and matches or a lighter.
4. Keep your Mobile Phones and Solar Chargers
While we are guessing that the internet will stop working, the GPS function of the phone will still be useful to you. Satellites can last for up to 6 months given a tragedy as huge as a zombie apocalypse. You would want to keep it handy. Download music videos and store in e-books that you can read to pass time.
5. Build A Strong and Reliable Group
It does not need to be big, just make sure that you know someone from the military, a person who knows how to grow food, a doctor or a nurse who can at least provide first aid. And someone who knows how to defend themselves properly just in case you will need to fight battles on the street may it be humans or zombies. A car mechanic or even a carpenter would also be handy so make sure to be friendly and have useful contacts- it increases your chances of survival during the zombie apocalypse.
6. Check the nearest Prison or Military Base
It’s not the best scenario when you think about it, but during a zombie apocalypse one of the best hideouts you can go to is the City Jail. It is where you can find weapons, it is also a place where you can easily lock yourself in to avoid being eaten. But of course, only if the prisoners inside were able to get out- the next best thing is knowing where the military or police base is in the area- because let’s face it, they are prepared for battles and might be able to provide better security more than any other area.
7. Buy a really sturdy and handy Gloves
At some point, you would need to punch a zombie, or an evil human trying to take advantage of you and you want to be protected. You can try googling some of the best gloves that can protect your hand like the Blackhawk S.O.L.A.G. HD Kevlar Gloves. It is shell plated, increasing the safety and protecting the dexterity of your hands.
8. Purchase A Riot Gear
Well not everyone has the time to buy one if the entire city is already infected. But just in case you are in a situation where you can still buy. Make sure to order a riot gear. Or at least find suitable jackets that could give you protection from the bites.
9. Wear Steel Toe Boots
Consider buying a good pair of steel toe boots and make sure that it is always within reach. Get high quality boots that you can use when trekking the hardest places. Get some full grain leather with man made sole with a steel safety toe.
10. Get a Handy and Reliable Binocular
Binoculars will help you identify who is a friend and who is a zombie from afar. Get binoculars that are waterproof with a 8.5 magnification and 45mm objective lens, with a lifetime warranty.
11. Purchase a Baseball Bat
Since not everyone would have the option to purchase a gun, you can at least have a baseball bat for protection. Use it to crack the heads of zombies, and make sure buy the durable one.
12. Keep a handy lens with you to create fire
Not everyone will have the opportunity to be near a forest with sticks, and not all of us know how to create fire. Which is why it is good to keep a handy lens that you can use to focus on sunlight to create fire. At best, start practicing how to create fire on your own- your very survival depends on it.
